Somalia reports 187 new Coronvirus cases

MOGADISHU — Somalia’s ministry of health announced 187 new COVID-19 infections bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 11,164.

The new cases are from 122 Somaliland, Puntland 31, Jubaland 12, Benadir region 12 and Southwest State 10.

In the same period, 14 new virus-related deaths were confirmed, taking the total number of fatalities to 510.

Somalia is experiencing a second wave of the pandemic, one touted by the health minister Fowzia Abikar to be deadlier than the first wave.

Somalia’s virus Covid-19 has continued to balloon steady, with a considerable hike in new daily infections since the mid of February.
