IED explosion wounds three people in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU — At least three people were wounded on Monday in a landmine explosion targeting a vehicle carrying police officials in Somalia’s capital, an official said.

The attack took place in Dharkenley district of Mogadishu, according to Abukar Isack, a local police officer.

The targeted vehicle was carrying police officials, including a district police commissioner, but he escaped unhurt, he added.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, the latest in a string of IED blasts in long-chaotic city in the past few weeks.
