Federal government delegation arrives Baladweyne to assess Shabelle river floods

BALADWEYNE — A delegation from the federal government of Somalia arrived on late Tuesday afternoon in Beledweyne town.

The delegation led by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia Jamal Mohamed Hassan, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Abdi Ashur, Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Abdirashid Mohamud Hassan visits the flooded areas.

The purpose of their trip was to assess the river flood situation to protect the lives of the people living in Hiran region.

The committee held a consultative meeting with Hirshabelle regional state officials and further discussed diversity disaster cases of flooding in Beledweyn to end and make a sustainable solution.

In October 2019, Hundreds of thousands of people affected by floods in Hirran while 20,0000 displaced others left vulnerable and in need, especially women, children, and elderly following heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Somalia.
