Families displaced, farms inundated as Juba river breaches banks

GEDO (SoOHA) – Families have been displaced in Middle Juba and Gedo regions as floods sweep through several districts following overflows in the Juba River.

Goobjoog News reporter in the Gedo region reports that farms that were under irrigation have been inundated by floods robbing farmers of their main livelihood source.

The worst affected areas include Luuq, Bur-Dhuubo, and Bardhere in Gedo, on the other hand, Middle Juba also affected search as Sakow, Baule, and Jilib while Lower Juba is in crisis with Jamame, Kamsuma, Burgundy, and Goobweyn.

The floods add to another agony for residents who had just lost their livestock to the drought which had hit the regions in recent months.

There was no comment yet from authorities on relief efforts.
