Somalia’s COVID-19 tally hits 15,203

MOGADISHU — Somalia has on Saturday reported twenty-three new COVID-19 cases in the past 48 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 15,203.

According to the health ministry, eight patients recovered from the disease in the last 48 hours, bringing the total number of people who recovered from the disease in the Horn of the African nation to 7,286.

The minister said eight patients succumbed to the disease, the number of fatalities stands at 789.

The ministry said of the latest cases twelve were female and eleven others male.

Somalia rolled out its mass vaccinations on March 16, having received 300,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility.

On April 11, the horn of African country received 200,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines donated by China to boost its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
