Somali government cancels today’s exams due to heavy rains

MOGADISHU (SOHA) – The Ministry of Education has postponed today’s form four exams owing to heavy rains which hit various parts of the country Saturday night into Sunday.

Education Minister Abdirahman Osman issued the directive through the state media SONNA but did not indicate when the exams will resume. Heavy rains were experienced in the capital Mogadishu and its outskirts Saturday night but subsided early Sunday.

The exams kicked off Saturday and were expected to end in a five day’s time.

27,600 students from Jubbaland, Galmudug, HirShabelle and Banaadir regions are sitting for the exams which are being conducted in 120 centres. Puntland is not taking part in the exams.
