MOGADISHU — Somalia’s ministry of health has announced on Monday a patient who tested positive for COVID-19 in country has recovered and set for release.
The Director General of Health advised in a letter dated March 30 that the patient identified as Ahmed Yusuf Yasin be released from a UN run hospital in Mogadishu after he tested negative in two consecutive tests.
The letter addressed to UN/Amisom Level 2 hospital in Mogadishu noted the three other patients who tested negative also be released.
“Therefore, since they completed the quarantine period with negative Lab results, the Ministry of Health has decided to advise the release of the below list of suspected cases with due effect from today March 30th, 2020, as they do not carry any risk of transmission for COVID-19,” Dr. Ali said.
The three other cases who tested negative are identified as Abdiaziz Abdirizak Osman, Duale Jama Mohamud and Ibrahim Mohamed Yasin.
Somalia has since recorded three cases of COVID-19.
