MOGADISHU — The Somali President, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, issued a presidential decree appointing a group of prominent academic figures as Vice Chancellors of the Somali National University(SNU), as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The appointments included Prof. Dr. Abdirisaq Abdullahi Hashi as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Ms. Deeqa Mohamed Qalib as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, aimed at strengthening the university’s administrative structure, according to SONNA.
The decree also designated Prof. Dr. Abdullahi Sheikh Rashid as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Community Engagement, and Dr. Ali Awil Ahmed as Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, as noted by the Somali National News Agency.
Furthermore, Dr. Fuad Mirre Hassan was appointed Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development to draft future visions in line with global educational shifts, a move confirmed by SONNA in its coverage of the presidential decision.
President Mohamud instructed the newly appointed officials to carry out their responsibilities with utmost integrity and dedication, adhering to national laws and regulations to serve the public interest and the educational sector.
