Somalia takes part in global “one health” summit in Tunis

TUNIS — The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, participated in a high-level international conference focused on the “One Health” approach, which promotes collaborative efforts to address the interconnected health of humans, animals, and the environment.

Minister Ali Haji delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining Somalia’s national efforts to implement the “One Health” strategy. He emphasized the critical importance of fostering strong cooperation between the Ministries of Health, Environment, and Livestock, alongside international partners, to mitigate health threats arising from zoonotic diseases and environmental factors.

The Minister reaffirmed the Somali government’s commitment to establishing an integrated and unified framework to tackle health risks linked to animal-borne diseases, environmental degradation, and climate change, in alignment with the principles of the “One Health” vision.
