MoLSA to partner with NCRI to tackle displacement and irregular migration

MOGADISHU — Last week, Somalia’s Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Yusuf Mohamed Adan, met with the Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (NCRI), Ahmed Hussein, to strengthen strategic collaboration on addressing displacement and irregular migration.

The discussions emphasized job creation and empowerment initiatives for vulnerable communities.

This meeting aligns with ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs to modernize labor legislation and enhance employment opportunities in Somalia.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) is dedicated to creating a balanced labor market that protects employees and meets employers’ needs.

Additionally, the ministry focuses on social protection to combat poverty and reduce dependence on social benefits.

The NCRI has also been proactive in developing strategies to support displaced populations.

In October 2024, the Commission launched a 5-Year Strategic Plan aimed at providing protection, support, and sustainable solutions for internally displaced persons in Somalia.

Collaborative efforts between these institutions are vital for addressing the challenges of displacement and irregular migration, focusing on creating sustainable employment opportunities and empowering vulnerable communities across Somalia.
