SoDMA dispatches boats to Gedo to aid flood victims

MOGADISHU — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Thursday dispatched speedboats to Baardheere district in Gedo region of Jubbaland State to rescue people affected by floods.

According to the agency, the boats will be used to evacuate people who have been marooned by floods after the River burst its banks.

“The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) is responding to the dire humanitarian situation in the various districts of the Jubaland regional government which resulted from heavy rains and floods caused by the Jubba River that passes,” SoDMA said in a press release.

The agency added that it has prepared various humanitarian aid including food, clothes and medicine, which will be delivered to the region.
