MOGADISHU — A mortar attack in Mogadishu’s Hamar Jajab district on Saturday morning killed four children and their mother and wounded their father.
As many as five shells fell on the family home, which was located near the Police Academy.
Several residents were seriously wounded in the attack.
Local news sources have put the number of injured people at around 20, although the exact number is yet to be verified.
Although there was no immediate claim of responsibility, the shelling came as Al-Shabaab fighters laid siege to Hayat Hotel, killing at least 15 people.
