Turkish charity distributes 500 food parcels to needy families in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU — Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) has disbursed food packages to 500 needy families living in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Tuesday.

The humanitarian organization said it will continue distributing more food parcels and organize iftar dinners for needy people during this holy month of Ramadan.

Mogadishu hosts a number of vulnerable and needy families who can not get a proper meal during this sacred holy of Ramadhan.

Many people have fled from rural and remotes areas across the East African Nation due to the incessant attacks from the Al-Qaeda affiliate group-Al- Shabaab and the ongoing devastating drought which has decimated their livestock and claimed human lives.

The Turkish Red Crescent has been playing a pivotal role in distributing and helping those in need in the society and have in recent times been involved in humanitarian assistance to underprivileged people in the Horn of Africa Nation.
