MOGADISHU — Soldiers from the 231st Battalion of the Military Police Brigade of the Somali National Army embodied the highest values of social solidarity by responding to a humanitarian appeal from a disabled girl with special needs in the capital, Mogadishu. This initiative involved donating a wheelchair to enhance her mobility, thereby emphasizing the social and humanitarian role of the military institution alongside its national duties in maintaining security and stability.

The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported in field coverage that the Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Mohamed Abdi Hussein (Koronto), paid a special visit to the girl’s home to deliver the assistance. The Colonel explained that as soon as the soldiers received the humanitarian message, they took the initiative to contribute part of their salaries to secure this vital need, in a move that reflects the depth of human bonds between the soldier and the citizen in all circumstances.

As documented by “SONNA,” the military leadership emphasized that the armed forces place the service of the Somali community and the care of vulnerable groups at the forefront of their ethical priorities. Military officials pointed out that these self-initiated efforts by soldiers enhance the image of the national army as a strong fortress whose role is not limited to field defense but extends to providing aid and assistance to all citizens in need.

In a related context, the beneficiary girl expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation to the national army soldiers for this generous gift, affirming that the wheelchair represented an urgent need to facilitate her daily life. This gesture received widespread praise from her family, who valued the high sense of responsibility shown by the armed forces, bringing joy and happiness to the hearts of all family members.

Reports issued by the Somali National News Agency explained that this humanitarian act sends a strong message regarding the army’s commitment to its community responsibilities across Somalia. This movement proves that the Somali National Army’s doctrine is based on protecting human dignity and supporting vulnerable groups, in parallel with ongoing military operations to strengthen security foundations in the capital and regions.

Observers believe that such humanitarian initiatives effectively contribute to building bridges of mutual trust between citizens and the military institution, enhancing national solidarity. This bright image of the army highlights its ability to balance firmness in facing security challenges with compassion in addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of the population, especially in densely populated urban areas.

The event concluded by reaffirming that the sacrifices of the Somali National Army transcend the battlefields to touch people’s lives directly and positively. These humanitarian stories remain a testament to the sophistication of the military institution and the dedication of its members to serving the nation and the citizen, ensuring the building of a cohesive society that takes pride in its identity and values of compassion in the face of all hardships.

The blending of military courage with human compassion represents the fundamental pillar for building a national army close to its people, confirming that investing in human dignity is the ideal way to consolidate the foundations of sustainable stability and protect the future of coming generations in the Federal Republic of Somalia.
