MOGADISHU — The Somali Ministry of Planning and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held a high-level meeting in Mogadishu to accelerate the National Transformation Plan and align international programs with federal priorities, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
Chaired by Director General Mohamed Shire, the session explored mechanisms to strengthen the bilateral partnership, ensuring that development initiatives deliver tangible results for the country’s economic and social stability.
The discussions focused on establishing robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track project efficiency and ensure that international support reaches the most vital sectors impacting Somali citizens.
Both parties emphasized that transparency, accountability, and data-driven strategies are essential pillars for the success and long-term sustainability of development interventions, according to SONNA.
The meeting also highlighted the UNDP’s pivotal role in supporting national capacity building and promoting good governance initiatives that contribute to modernizing the state’s administrative apparatus.
The Ministry underscored the necessity for all international partners to operate within defined national goals to ensure integrated efforts and avoid duplication in development and investment projects.
