Building competencies: Zamzam University students master land leveling

​MOGADISHU — Students from the Faculty of Agriculture at Zamzam University in the Federal Republic of Somalia organized a field training program on agricultural land measurement and leveling. This initiative is part of the university’s efforts to strengthen practical application and link academic knowledge with field reality to develop the agricultural sector.

Reports published by the “Somalia Now” platform indicated that the training involved using advanced surveying tools to familiarize students with soil slope measurement methods and leveling mechanisms. These are essential processes aimed at preparing agricultural land, enhancing irrigation efficiency, and ensuring balanced water distribution, which positively impacts production quality.

​According to “Somalia Now”, the program, supervised by Engineer Ahmed Abdulrazak Farah, focused on modern techniques for identifying reference points and soil preparation in accordance with international technical standards. This aims to empower young professionals to handle field challenges in the Somali agricultural sector and prepare them for the labor market with high efficiency.

This activity reflects Zamzam University’s commitment to its developmental role by providing the agricultural sector with qualified personnel possessing the scientific and technical skills necessary to support sustainable development goals and food security.
