MOGADISHU — Hormuud University in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, celebrated the graduation of its 12th batch of students across various scientific and academic disciplines. The major ceremony underscored the role of educational institutions in supporting national development with qualified personnel.
Reports published by the “Somalia Now” platform indicated that the graduation ceremony, held at the university’s Honorary Hall, included hundreds of graduates in vital technical fields such as Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Administrative Sciences. These specializations aim to bridge the technical gap and support digital transformation in the country.
According to “Somalia Now”, the event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Federal Government ministers, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and members of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament, alongside private sector leaders.
During the certificate presentation, Professor Abdi Omar Shurie, Vice President of the University, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to aligning academic education with labor market requirements and strengthening the national knowledge infrastructure.
“Somalia Now” further noted that official speeches during the ceremony highlighted the pivotal role played by Hormuud University in preparing national talents capable of contributing to the national economy and community services. The speakers emphasized that education remains the fundamental pillar for building Somalia’s future and achieving developmental stability
