A leading landmark: Amna Quranic centre inaugurated in Mogadish

MOGADISHU — Qatar Charity has inaugurated the “Amna Center for Quran Memorandum” in the Kahda district of the Banaadir region, marking the tenth center established by the organization during the year 2025. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to develop the religious and cultural educational infrastructure in the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia.

Reports published by the Qatari newspaper “Al-Sharq” indicated that the new center comprises three classrooms and a fully equipped administrative office. The facility has been furnished with all necessary requirements to provide a safe and stable educational environment for both male and female students, thereby supporting the progress of Quranic education in the region.

According to “Al-Sharq” newspaper, Sheikh Abubakar Ali Jabu, representative of the Somali Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, praised the pioneering role of Qatar Charity in supporting Sharia education. He emphasized that such projects serve as a fundamental pillar in disseminating values of moderation and reinforcing Islamic identity and religious awareness among the younger generations.

“Al-Sharq” further noted that this initiative aligns with a comprehensive strategy adopted by Qatar Charity to support the educational sector, including the “Furqan” project. This project aims to enhance Arabic language skills for non-Arabic speakers to ensure a deeper understanding of the Holy Quran.

On his part, Abdirizak Mohamed Sheikh Abdullah, the district commissioner of Kahda, commended this qualitative addition to the region’s educational services, noting its importance in empowering youth with beneficial knowledge and elevating the intellectual level of the local community.
