MOGADISHU — The Somali Ministry of Health concluded a two-day national health coordination meeting in Mogadishu, aimed at harmonizing the plans and priorities for the country’s health sector for the year 2025.
The meeting brought together federal and state health officials, UN agencies, and a wide array of international and local health partners. Its primary focus was on aligning efforts to strengthen the delivery of essential health services across Somalia.
Dr. Ali Haji Adam, Somalia’s Minister of Health and Human Services, emphasized the central goal: “The goal is to ensure that all stakeholders are working together under a unified national plan to improve health outcomes for all Somalis.”
Participants reviewed current health programs and discussed strategies for expanding access to primary healthcare, addressing malnutrition, strengthening disease surveillance, and improving maternal and child health.
The Ministry underscored that coordinated planning is vital for building a resilient and inclusive health system, particularly as the country contends with recurrent climate shocks, displacement, and insecurity.
The outcomes of the meeting are intended to feed directly into Somalia’s national health strategy for 2025, with a view to enhancing donor alignment and resource mobilization efforts.
