ARCO commends KSrelief’s efforts in supporting environmental sanitation in Somalia

RIYADH — His Excellency Abdullah bin Suhail Al-Muhaidli, Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), affirmed the utmost importance of the project supporting the water and environmental sanitation sector in displaced persons’ camps in Somalia.

This project, which is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), comes as a direct response to the humanitarian and health challenges faced by the displaced, primarily the scarcity of clean water and weak sanitation infrastructure, which pose a real threat to their lives and dignity.

His Excellency explained that the project aims to improve living conditions and curb the spread of epidemics and diseases, thereby reinforcing the right of the displaced to access essential services that protect their health and lives.

As reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this project embodies the pivotal role played by KSrelief in supporting humanitarian efforts at both the Arab and international levels.

Al-Muhaidli noted that this collaboration represents a strategic humanitarian partnership between KSrelief and ARCO, serving as a leading model for integration and joint action in serving urgent humanitarian causes. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) also stated that this partnership reflects the highest meanings of Arab and Islamic solidarity.

His Excellency further clarified that this institutional relationship aims to enhance the efficiency of the humanitarian response and achieve a sustainable impact for the most vulnerable and needy groups.

He added that the joint projects funded by the Center contribute to alleviating the suffering of millions of beneficiaries in vital areas such as health, water, environmental sanitation, and emergency relief.

In his concluding statement, Al-Muhaidli affirmed ARCO’s commitment to continuing coordination with its partners to develop sustainable initiatives in the fields of water and health, with the goal of strengthening the resilience of affected communities and mitigating their long-term suffering.
