MOGADISHU — The Chargé d’affaires of the Norwegian Embassy in Somalia, Ms. Merete Derode, received the Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, at the Embassy’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance it in the humanitarian and relief sectors, in addition to discussing methods for developing community-based initiatives in Somalia.
The Norwegian Chargé d’affaires affirmed her country’s keenness to increase support for Somalia, particularly in emergency relief services and the development of the most vulnerable communities. She noted that Norwegian assistance is provided through various channels to achieve an effective response.
For his part, the Chairman of SoDMA expressed Somalia’s appreciation for the continuous Norwegian support, emphasizing its vital role in building the country’s capacity to deal with disasters.
The meeting also touched upon the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two sides to advance Somali society and address pressing humanitarian issues.
