KSrelief enhances youth skills and supports their future

RIYADH — In a practical embodiment of Saudi Arabia’s vision to support human development and capacity building, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continues to deliver specialized programs aimed at empowering youth in needy countries through vocational training and skills development projects that open new horizons for work and life.

According to reports published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), KSrelief utilized the occasion of International Youth Skills Day, observed annually on July 15, to highlight its ongoing efforts to develop youth capacities and help them build their futures, guided by its vision that places “human beings first” and recognizes youth as the cornerstone of sustainable development.

Projects in Yemen, Somalia, Palestine, Syria, and Chad

In Yemen, KSrelief implemented the “Empowering Youth and Improving Livelihoods” project, benefiting over 1,250 individuals with professional and managerial skills training, alongside the “Career Pathways” initiative that qualified 200 young men and women in various trades, as confirmed by SPA.

In Somalia, the center launched vocational and entrepreneurial training through the Baraa Technical Institute, benefiting 570 youth, while in Tajikistan, more than 3,600 young people received computer and English language training.

In Syria, KSrelief operated community centers providing broad vocational and technical training, psychological and social support, reaching over 29,900 beneficiaries. Programs included courses in computing, English, tailoring, hairdressing, painting, and automotive mechanics, in addition to recreational activities and youth dialogue sessions designed to enhance social adaptation and professional skills.

In Jordan, the Saudi Education and Training Center under KSrelief offered educational and vocational services at the Zaatari Refugee Camp, benefiting 4,468 Syrian refugees with computer and vocational skills training. A voluntary training program in Indonesia trained 440 youth in first aid and search and rescue, while in Chad, KSrelief trained 270 women in sewing, embroidery, culinary arts, and computer maintenance, enabling them to secure sustainable livelihoods.

In Palestine, KSrelief established a vocational and technical center in Hebron to train needy women in food processing, microcredit management, and handicrafts, as part of a comprehensive economic and social empowerment project, as reported by SPA.

Human Development at the Core of Saudi Humanitarian Action

These diverse efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment, through its humanitarian arm, to plant hope and harness the potential of youth, directly aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as an active player in supporting vulnerable communities.

Since its inception, KSrelief has implemented over 3,504 projects across 108 countries with a budget exceeding $8 billion USD, covering critical sectors including food security, education, health, water, protection, and empowerment, according to SPA.
