Somali disaster authority receives food aid from UAE

MOGADISHU — In a significant humanitarian gesture, Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, the head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), recently received food aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi.

The aid is intended to support 600 vulnerable families in Mogadishu, providing much-needed relief to those facing food insecurity.

Additionally, Ambassador Al-Rumaithi announced a substantial pledge of 7,000 tons of food aid for Somalia, which will be distributed during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

This contribution underscores the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting Somalia during critical times, particularly in addressing food shortages and aiding vulnerable communities.

Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection for Muslims worldwide, often sees increased demand for food assistance, making this pledge particularly timely and impactful.

The collaboration between SoDMA and the UAE reflects the importance of international partnerships in addressing humanitarian challenges and fostering stability in Somalia.
