BOSSASO — The Puntland Police Force conducted an operation to combat tree burning and charcoal production in areas of the SHAXDA district in the Karkar region.
A report issued by the Puntland Police Command stated that the operation destroyed 15 pits made by charcoal-producing groups in areas of the SHAXDA district in the Karkaar region.
“The Police destroyed more than 15 pits, stating that this is part of efforts to prevent environmental damage,” the Puntland Police report said.
The Puntland Police Command also stated in its report that three prisoners, who were part of the groups burning trees and making the 15 charcoal pits, were captured during the operation.
