MOGADISHU — More than a third of patients who contracted the global pandemic virus known Coronavirus in Somalia have recovered, the country’s health ministry confirmed.
In a statement, Fawziya Abikar, the health minister said the country has recorded a total recovery of 1,264, making the total recoveries more than a third of the cases recorded since last March.
The minister confirmed 13 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total tally of infections to 3,051.
According to the ministry, the majority of the latest cases were recorded in Somaliland which has 7, Jubbaland 4, Benadir, and Galmudug two each.
Abikar said no patient succumbed to the respiratory disease as the death toll still stands 92 since the first infection.
She said 55 people recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of people who have been discharged from hospitals to 1,264.
Somalia has last week announced the resumption of local flight following months of suspension on domestic and international flights.
The country also started National exams for primary schools in different parts of the country.
