{"id":9775,"date":"2022-02-26T21:46:26","date_gmt":"2022-02-26T21:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=9775"},"modified":"2022-02-27T11:38:46","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T11:38:46","slug":"qatar-charity-launches-urgent-response-appeal-for-somalia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2022\/02\/26\/qatar-charity-launches-urgent-response-appeal-for-somalia\/","title":{"rendered":"QC launches urgent response appeal for Somalia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DOHA &#8212;\u00a0 <\/strong>Qatar Charity (QC) has launched an urgent response appeal to provide relief aid in the most affected areas of Somalia, aiming to mitigate the impact of the severe drought ravaging the country and contribute to saving the lives of more than half of its vulnerable population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This comes as part of QC\u2019s continued efforts in carrying out the immediate field intervention to alleviate the suffering of those affected by drought, dearth and famine threatening the lives of millions, a press statement notes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qatar Charity, as part of its humanitarian appeal launched under its \u2018Together against Hunger\u2019 drive, aims to provide aid to more than a million affected Somalis in three states: Somaliland, Galmudug and Jubbaland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qatar Charity\u2019s relief interventions will focus on the areas of food, water and sanitation, health and shelter, distributing food packages, drinking water, hygiene items, rehabilitating wells, sending medical convoys, and rehabilitating health centres, in addition to shelter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The drought, which hit most of Somalia\u2019s regions due to the lack of regular seasonal rains, has caused an increase in the suffering of the population, displacement of thousands of people, dwindling of pastures, decline in the production of agricultural crops, and a rise in food prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">QC has urged benefactors in Qatar to donate to help the affected and the underprivileged in Somalia to meet their basic needs in this time of adversity. One can easily contribute to the appeal through Qatar Charity\u2019s website, app, branches and collection points located in malls and commercial centers, in addition to requesting for a &#8216;Home Collector&#8217; and dialing 44667711 to donate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">QC is among the international organizations working to combat drought and desertification in several regions of the world. In this regard, it implements various projects, including drilling wells and constructing and equipping water purification plants, in addition to constructing sanitation facilities, maintaining and rehabilitating water and sanitation facilities and distributing relief aid in the most affected regions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qatar Charity continues its efforts to support those affected by drought through its &#8216;Together Against Hunger&#8217; campaign.
