{"id":9299,"date":"2021-12-06T23:42:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T23:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=9299"},"modified":"2021-12-14T03:31:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T03:31:19","slug":"explosion-in-somalia-kills-2-minors-wounds-3-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2021\/12\/06\/explosion-in-somalia-kills-2-minors-wounds-3-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Explosion in Somalia kills two minors, wounds 3 others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MOGADISHU &#8212;\u00a0 <\/strong>At least two minors were killed and three wounded after they encountered unexploded ordinance in southern Somalia on Monday, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The minors were ages 7 to 14, and the two boys claimed by the explosion were brothers, according to local authorities in the southern province of Gedo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The incident on the outskirts of the small town of El-adde took place when the minors came across unexploded ordnance, a police officer in Garbaharey, the provincial capital of the Gedo region, told Anadolu Agency over the phone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLocals reached the area and transported the wounded children to the Garbaharey hospital for treatment,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El-adde is a small town located 550 kilometers (340 miles) from the capital Mogadishu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jaylani Hussein Yusuf, a local journalist, told Anadolu Agency: &#8220;I saw the children at the hospital and their wounds are very serious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group al-Shabaab, which controls the area where the incident took place, claimed the ordnance had been dropped by warplanes from neighboring Kenya.
