{"id":9009,"date":"2021-09-29T22:24:59","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T22:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=9009"},"modified":"2021-10-10T12:42:04","modified_gmt":"2021-10-10T12:42:04","slug":"amisom-donates-scholastic-materials-to-school-in-gedo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2021\/09\/29\/amisom-donates-scholastic-materials-to-school-in-gedo\/","title":{"rendered":"AMISOM donates scholastic materials to school in Gedo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>GARBAHAREY &#8212;<\/strong> The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has donated scholastic materials to pupils in Elwak Primary School in Gedo Region, Jubaland State of Somalia, to boost education in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The items which included desks, chairs, office furniture, wooden blackboards, sports equipment and a water tank were donated by Kenyan AMISOM troops, based in Dhobley.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The items \u2013 donated under AMISOMs Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) \u2013 were handed over to the school management by the Commanding Officer of the third Mechanised Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Mwangi, at a ceremony held at the school, attended by the pupils, local leaders and Somalia Security Forces (SSF).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his remarks, Lt. Col. Mwangi stressed the importance of education as a basis for peace and development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Education, he noted, imparts knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that are important for the social, economic and political development for any country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEducation is the essential foundation for prosperity and serves as a conduit to success. It also helps nurture young people\u2019s talent and creativity. This helps them to connect with other people around the globe and inspires them to discover and analyse the world in which they live,\u201d he said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lt.
