{"id":9001,"date":"2021-10-02T21:07:25","date_gmt":"2021-10-02T21:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=9001"},"modified":"2021-10-10T12:15:12","modified_gmt":"2021-10-10T12:15:12","slug":"somaliland-deports-southerners-leading-to-somalias-condemnation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2021\/10\/02\/somaliland-deports-southerners-leading-to-somalias-condemnation\/","title":{"rendered":"Somaliland police deports southerners leading to Somalia\u2019s condemnation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>LAS ANOD &#8212;<\/strong> Reports from Las Anod town in Sool region say that the Somaliland police forces have arrested a number of civilians during a security operation in the district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somaliland\u2019s Sool regional police commander confirmed to reporters in Las Anod today that security forces had carried out an operation in town, arresting a number of traders from the south.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPeople from southern Somalia are foreigners, they are like Ethiopians and we will deport them from Las Anod,\u201d said General Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The commander accused these people of being responsible for the insecurity in Las Anod, and in connection with previous crimes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somaliland authorities also told local media that they were investigating the men and some had been already released after being questioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The operation came amid a recent spate of insecurity in the city, in which officials and other members were killed by unknown gunmen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, an statement from the Somalia\u2019s Minister of Justice called the deportation that Somaliland is carrying out in Lasanod district saddening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am deeply saddened by what is happening in Las Anod.
