MOGADISHU –\u00a0<\/strong>At least two people were killed and several others wounded on Thursday evening in a suicide bomb explosion in the Somali capital Mogadishu, an official said.<\/p>\n

The site of the blast was near the headquarters of the country’s National Intelligence and Security Agency, with a soldier among those killed, a police official in Mogadishu told Anadolu Agency.<\/p>\n

“The police believe that the attack was caused by a suicide bomber wearing a suicide vest but an investigation is underway,” said the official, requesting anonymity as he is not authorized to talk to the media.<\/p>\n

He added that at least three people, including two soldiers, were wounded in the attack and rushed to hospitals for treatment.<\/p>\n

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Somali-based terror group al-Shabaab has claimed recent attacks in the Horn of Africa country.<\/p>\n

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, was behind a truck-bombing attack in October 2017 in the capital Mogadishu that took some 600 lives, the worst attack in the nation’s history.<\/p>\n
