MOGADISHU — <\/strong>At least five people including children who were injured in an alleged airstrikes in southern Somalia, have been airlifted to Somali capital for further treatment barely a day after AU mission in Somalia (AMISOM) vowed to probe any violations by Kenya military.<\/p>\n

Unknown number of missiles fired by suspected Kenyan warplanes had last week hit villages in Gedo region, killing a mother and leaving behind five people with serious injuries.<\/p>\n

Somali government condemned the attack, saying the attack was blatant violations against human rights.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Somali information ministry said the government ferried the victims to Mogadishu to receive treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe wounded victims of Kenya\u2019s airstrike in El Adde town of Gedo region on June 3rd were brought to Mogadishu for further treatment earlier today. 6 seriously wounded children, all of them under 12, 1 of them only 2 were among them. Mother and her child died on the same night,\u201d the statement reads in part.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Somalia said the way KDF operates in Somalia is becoming provocative and blind as many civilians are targeted in the attacks by the neighboring country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is becoming increasingly obvious the provocative and indiscriminate manner the KDF conducts operations in Somali under the pretext of fighting extremism will not contribute to the efforts toward stabilizing and confronting extremism but only further radicalize communities in support of extremism,\u201d the statement said. Adding, civilians under their property should never be the target of military action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, AMISOM promised that it will probe the alleged Kenyan airstrikes against civilians in southern Somalia.<\/p>\n

Mission said it will check if the KDF, who are a part of AMISOM, violated the operational code in the raids.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mission shall fully investigate the alleged incident and the findings shall be shared with all relevant stakeholders,\u201d AMISOM said in its statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n
