{"id":7470,"date":"2021-02-08T23:06:33","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T23:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=7470"},"modified":"2021-02-12T08:00:40","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T08:00:40","slug":"bomb-blast-kills-at-least-12-in-central-somalia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2021\/02\/08\/bomb-blast-kills-at-least-12-in-central-somalia\/","title":{"rendered":"Bomb blast kills at least 12 in central Somalia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MOGADISHU &#8212;<\/strong> A bomb blast in central Somalia killed at least a dozen people on Sunday, including a local intelligence chief, Anadolu Agency reported according to officials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The attack, which wounded\u00a0several others, targeted the vehicle of\u00a0Abdirashid Abdi Qooje\u00a0as it passed through\u00a0the village of Eldhere 30 kilometres west of Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qooje was the head of\u00a0the\u00a0National Intelligence and Security Agency in\u00a0Dhusamareb.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Speaking to Anadolu Agency, security officials in the region\u00a0confirmed\u00a0the attack and number of casualties\u00a0on\u00a0condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A military vehicle carrying Dhusamareb intelligence chief Abdirashid Abdi Qooje, was attacked while travelling between Eldhere and Guriel town, killing him and 11 of his bodyguards,&#8221;\u00a0one security official said.<\/p>\n<p>Several others,\u00a0including three\u00a0soldiers, were also wounded and\u00a0were transported to hospitals in Dhusamareb for treatment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Local media have placed\u00a0casualties at\u00a014 people.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Shabaab, an\u00a0Al Qaeda-linked terrorist\u00a0group based in the Horn of Africa country,\u00a0claimed responsibility for the\u00a0attack.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0was the third bombing\u00a0in Somalia over the last\u00a024 hours.
