BARAWE —<\/strong> AMISOM Ugandan contingent has donated items to Embresso Primary School in Barawe district, to support the delivery of education services in the South West State of Somalia.<\/p>\n

Col. Edward Kaddu, the commander of the Uganda Battle Group XXIX who represented the Contingent Commander, Brig. Gen. Richard Otto handed over the items that included classroom desks, tables, chairs, books, and portable blackboards.<\/p>\n

While delivering the items on Wednesday, Col. Kaddu thanked the local community, the Somalia National Army and elders, for the cordial working relationship with the AMISOM troops deployed in Barawe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been able to maintain peace and security because of the cooperation, which should continue for the sake of development in Barawe and Somalia,\u201d Col. Kaddu said.<\/p>\n

He also advised the school administration to utilize the donated items to uplift the standards of education in the South West State.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the relative security would support development in the area and encouraged parents to enroll their children in the school.<\/p>\n

Omar Abdirisaq, the deputy District Commissioner for Embresso, commended AMISOM for maintaining peace and stability in the region and Somalia. He pledged to ensure that the donated items support ongoing efforts to improve education service delivery in the area.<\/p>\n

Capt. Obed Mbarebaki, the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Officer, said the donation is part of AMISOM\u2019s activities to strengthen relations with communities in the liberated areas.<\/p>\n

He noted that AMISOM carries out CIMIC activities that include medical outreach camps in communities, provision of safe water, routine maintenance of main supply routes, amongst others.<\/p>\n
