{"id":6789,"date":"2020-10-26T20:54:54","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T20:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=6789"},"modified":"2020-11-01T08:51:37","modified_gmt":"2020-11-01T08:51:37","slug":"somaliland-suspends-united-nations-cooperation-over-humanitarian-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2020\/10\/26\/somaliland-suspends-united-nations-cooperation-over-humanitarian-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Somaliland suspends United Nations cooperation over humanitarian projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>HARGEISA\u00a0 &#8212;<\/strong> The breakaway region of Somaliland has announced the suspension of all humanitarian engagements and other activities of the United Nations in Somaliland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A statement from Somaliland\u2019s Ministry of Planning and Development said co-operation between Somaliland and United Nations agencies had been suspended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Ministry of Planning is hereby sharing with all UN Agencies that discussions and consultations regarding the UN country programmes and work plans are suspended until further notice,\u201d a statement by the Minister of Planning Hassan Mohamed Ali read in part.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ministry did not say why it was suspending UN co-operation, but it coincided with the recent signing of an agreement between the federal government and the United Nations that the Somali federal government would go through all UN programs.
