MOGADISHU —<\/strong>\u00a0The Federal Government of Somalia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have jointly agreed to deal with challenges related to migration.<\/p>\n

The commitment was made during a meeting between Somalia\u2019s Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Sadik Warfa, and IOM Chief of Mission for Somalia Richard Danziger during a meeting in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

The sides also discussed ways to further cooperate on initiatives to create opportunities for young people to avert the trend that encourages young people to embark on a dangerous journey across the sea.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat to welcome IOM chief Richard Danziger discussed a wide range of issues including job creation. IOM continuous to play a big role in supporting immigrants here in Somalia to have an opportunity in the Labour market and our ministry is leading this initiative to create jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Somalia and IOM signed an agreement in December last year to strengthen cooperation and to work together on migration issues to promote economic and social development.<\/p>\n

They have since launched Mission Strategy 2019 \u2013 2021 to working closely together in line with the country\u2019s National Development Plan.<\/p>\n
