MOGADISHU <\/b>– At least six people died and 10 others still missing following a night of heavy rains in Qardho district in Puntland.<\/span><\/div>\n

Residents and local authorities told reporters the heavy rains resulted in flash floods that destroyed homes and human casualties.<\/p>\n

The rains which pounded the area Monday night also swept away vehicles, authorities said noting rescue efforts to recover the missing persons were underway.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, President Mohamed Farmaajo has condoled with the people of Qardho noting the government was mobilizing support for the affected families.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe share with you the sadness and hardship, as we concentrate on contributing to the relief of vulnerable families facing the crisis today,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

The President noted he had instructed the National Emergency Response Committee to move swiftly to alleviate further human suffering in the affected areas.<\/p>\n

He thanked residents for their fast response to aid in relief efforts. Somalia is currently experiencing the Gu rains which run from April to June.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
