{"id":300,"date":"2018-04-10T18:48:06","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T18:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=300"},"modified":"2018-04-30T05:38:16","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T05:38:16","slug":"somali-school-to-teach-turkish-as-part-of-curriculum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2018\/04\/10\/somali-school-to-teach-turkish-as-part-of-curriculum\/","title":{"rendered":"Somali school to teach Turkish as part of curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MOGADISHU (SOHA) &#8211;<\/strong> The Turkish language has been added to the curriculum of a school for orphans in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, according to the Yunus Emre Institute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The idea to introduce Turkish language courses at the school came when Huseyin Caner Akkurt, the institute&#8217;s head of the department of human resources, visited the school in August 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Friday, an official ceremony was held to announce the addition of Turkish language to the curriculum of Girls\u2019 Preschool at Bondhere Orphanage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lessons will be taught by a Turkish-speaking Somali teacher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkey&#8217;s Ambassador to Somalia Olgan Bekar, who was also present at the event, thanked the principal of the orphanage,\u00a0Nurto\u00a0Mohamed Addow, for opening its doors to Turkey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bekar said Somalia-Turkey friendly ties were getting stronger and it was being supported through education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addow highlighted the importance of educating girls and added that not only students but also teachers were going to learn Turkish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Source: AA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOGADISHU (SOHA) &#8211; The Turkish language has been added to the curriculum of a school for orphans in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, according to the Yunus Emre Institute.
