{"id":2054,"date":"2018-10-20T08:47:40","date_gmt":"2018-10-20T08:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=2054"},"modified":"2018-10-20T08:48:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-20T08:48:08","slug":"somali-students-receive-free-domains-to-promote-blogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2018\/10\/20\/somali-students-receive-free-domains-to-promote-blogging\/","title":{"rendered":"Somali students receive free domains to promote blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MOGADISHU (SOHA) &#8211;<\/strong> At the recently concluded Somalia\u2019s first Information and Communications (ICT) exhibition, Somalia\u2019s country-code top-level domain (dotSO) launched the (.me.so) domain for the first time by giving out free domains to students and authors to promote blogging within the young people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the theme \u201cDeveloping Vibrant ICT Sector\u201d, the Expo was attended by more than 60 local exhibitors from telecom, ISPs, web\/software and app developers, ICT startups, major universities that offer ICT courses, and government ICT-related institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attended by thousands of the general public, the event provided an unprecedented networking opportunity for the youth who had interactive discussions with the leaders of the sector both from the private and the public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lucky draw prizes by the majority of the exhibitors, notably a brand new laptop by the organizers and 15 scholarships from Plasma and Horseed universities and the state-run National Communications Institute, created enthusiasm within the participants.<\/p>\n<p>H. E. Abdurahman Omar Osman (Eng. Yarisow), Governor of Benadir, said, \u201cBoth locally and nationally, we are working hard to create an enabling environment to help the young people create jobs for themselves and for the fellow citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The exhibition was Somalia\u2019s major Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event and was attended by thousands of the general public, the event provided an unprecedented networking opportunity for the youth who had interactive discussions with the leaders of the sector both from the private and the public sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the closing ceremony, Somalia\u2019s Minister for Post, Telecom and Technology, H. E. Eng Abdi Ashur, said the Expo has shown the strength, diversity and the vibrancy of Somalia\u2019s ICT sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe event gave the country\u2019s ICT sector a further boost and showcased the progress made in this sector by the public and private sectors.
