MOGADISHU \u2013 <\/strong>In a step aimed at expanding access to education and strengthening girls\u2019 participation in the education process, Banadir Regional Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein \u201cMungab,\u201d inaugurated Sheikh Osman Hiddeeg School in the Gubadley district, an educational institution dedicated to girls and providing primary and middle-level education. The opening comes as part of efforts to expand educational services in the capital, particularly in areas experiencing continued population growth and urban expansion, bringing educational institutions closer to residential communities and providing families with better opportunities to enroll their daughters in school.<\/p>\n

The school was inaugurated during an official ceremony in which the Banadir Governor cut the opening ribbon, stressing that education development is one of the key priorities of the regional administration and that establishing schools in residential areas helps address some of the challenges faced by families and students in accessing educational institutions. He explained that the establishment of the new school forms part of efforts to develop basic services and expand access to them, helping children continue their education in an environment that is closer to their homes and better suited to their educational needs.<\/p>\n

The Banadir Governor stressed the importance of providing safe and quality education for Somali girls, noting that enabling them to acquire knowledge and skills represents a direct investment in the future of society. He emphasized that providing an appropriate educational environment goes beyond academic achievement, as it also helps strengthen students\u2019 confidence in their abilities and opens the way for them to continue their education at higher levels. This, in turn, can expand their future participation in social and economic life and contribute to building Somalia\u2019s human capital.<\/p>\n

The Mayor of Mogadishu called on parents in Gubadley and surrounding areas to encourage their sons and daughters to enroll in schools and take advantage of available educational opportunities, stressing that building an educated generation is fundamental to Somalia\u2019s future. He noted that the government has made education free, urging families to benefit from the policy and support the continued education of their children, thereby contributing to the development of a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to participate effectively in the development of society and the state.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Banadir Regional Education Directorate, Abdirahman Ali Mohamed, the Director of the Gubadley District Administration, and a number of local officials. Participants discussed the importance of continuing to support educational institutions and developing services provided to residents. The new school is expected to provide girls in Gubadley and surrounding areas with a closer and more suitable educational opportunity, which could contribute to increasing school enrollment and reducing barriers that may prevent students from attending school regularly and continuing their education.<\/p>\n
