DAR ES SALAAM \u2013<\/strong> Somalia participated in the Third International Conference on the African Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (ICPPA 2026), held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the attendance of African health ministers, representatives of international organizations, and public health experts.<\/p>\n

Somalia was represented at the conference by the Minister of Health and Social Care, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, who took part in a high-level discussion on mobilizing resources and expanding financing opportunities to support non-communicable disease programs in fragile and humanitarian-affected countries.<\/p>\n

During his intervention, the minister highlighted the situation of Somalia\u2019s health sector and the challenges the country faces in addressing non-communicable diseases, noting that these illnesses are becoming an increasing burden on communities and health systems across Africa.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that countries affected by conflict and humanitarian crises require additional support and sustainable financing to strengthen prevention, early detection, and treatment services, ensuring access to healthcare for the most vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n

The minister also stressed the importance of building effective international partnerships and promoting the exchange of expertise among countries to improve health systems and enhance their ability to respond to growing health challenges.<\/p>\n

He noted that achieving universal health coverage requires integrating non-communicable disease services into national health plans and strategies, while securing the resources needed to sustain those services.<\/p>\n
