\u200bMOGADISHU \u2014<\/strong> Qatar Charity has provided “Recep Tayyip Erdogan” Training and Research Hospital in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, with advanced medical equipment including modern kidney dialysis machines and specialized medical beds to save the lives of renal failure patients.<\/p>\n

The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that this vital medical support is generously funded by philanthropic donors from the State of Qatar, coming as an urgent humanitarian intervention to support the health system in Somalia and meet the growing needs of patients.<\/p>\n

\u200bThis initiative is of exceptional importance given the acute shortage faced by Somali medical facilities in nephrology specializations, coinciding with a significant increase in the number of patients, which poses a huge financial burden on families due to high private treatment costs.<\/p>\n

Mr. Tahir Mohamed Haj, Programs Director at Qatar Charity\u2019s office in Somalia, explained that the current grant includes 10 integrated dialysis machines and 10 advanced medical beds, stressing that this step aims to alleviate the daily suffering of renal failure patients.<\/p>\n

The Programs Director expressed his profound gratitude to the donors from the State of Qatar for their continuous humanitarian giving, noting the association\u2019s aspiration to expand its qualitative initiatives and institutional partnerships during the coming period to include various Somali regions.<\/p>\n

\u200bIn a related context, news coverage by the (SONNA) agency highlighted that Dr. Yusuf \u00c7okay, Director General of “Recep Tayyip Erdogan” Hospital, praised the generous Qatari support, describing it as the primary cornerstone for executing the strategic expansion project that the hospital administration is working to accomplish for the nephrology department.<\/p>\n

The Director General added that the current development plan seeks to equip an integrated department accommodating 40 dialysis machines, pointing out that the equipment provided by Qatar Charity will represent the initial operational nucleus for this vital project.<\/p>\n

This humanitarian intervention comes at a time when the health sector in Somalia faces mounting operational pressures, as “Global Health Cluster” reports indicate that about 5 million people in the country lack basic healthcare services due to drought impacts.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Qatar Charity accelerated its developmental and relief operations in Somalia during the past year, successfully executing 24 specialized health projects that included building and rehabilitating medical facilities, benefiting over 143,000 individuals across Somalia.<\/p>\n
