MOGADISHU -\u2013<\/strong> Somalia\u2019s Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development has intensified efforts to strengthen planning, monitoring, and evaluation practices within the health sector through a coordination meeting held in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health and Human Services to advance the use of data and evidence in shaping national health policies and programs.<\/p>\n

According to a post published on the Ministry\u2019s official Facebook page, the meeting forms part of ongoing government efforts to enhance coordination among national institutions involved in the health sector and improve data collection and analysis mechanisms to support better health outcomes and more sustainable service delivery.<\/p>\n

Discussions focused on the implementation of the National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy and the National Evaluation Framework, while exploring ways to strengthen planning, performance monitoring, and assessment processes for health programs to ensure more effective use of reliable information in policymaking and decision-making.<\/p>\n

The meeting was chaired by Mahmud Said Noor, Acting Director General of the Ministry and Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department. Participants included Dr. Said Hirsi, Technical Advisor on Health Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdijalil Abdullahi Ali, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Health, alongside a number of government officials and technical specialists.<\/p>\n

Participants emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making, noting that reliable data and scientific evidence are essential for improving healthcare services, enhancing the effectiveness of national programs, and ensuring that public institutions are better equipped to respond to the evolving needs of communities.<\/p>\n

The meeting reflects Somalia\u2019s broader commitment to building a more effective institutional framework for planning, monitoring, and evaluation, driven by the recognition that informed decisions are fundamental to improving public services and achieving sustainable human development.
