MOGADISHU —<\/strong> \u200bSomalia, represented by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, participated today, Monday, April 13, 2026, in the proceedings of a high-level conference dedicated to discussing the roles of Somali women in the paths of state-building, strengthening the pillars of peace, and advancing sustainable development within her territories.<\/p>\n

The Somali delegation at this forum was led by Mr. Abdulkadir Elmi, Director General of the Ministry, in the presence of prominent international diplomatic figures, represented by the participation of the United Kingdom Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Charles King, the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Ms. Francesca Di Mauro, alongside a host of representatives from women’s organizations and local administrations.<\/p>\n

In his speech during the conference, Mr. Abdulkadir Elmi emphasized that the Somali woman represents the backbone of her society, as she plays strategic roles in establishing the foundations of stability, participating in political activity, and bringing about a qualitative shift in the comprehensive development that Somalia aspires to.<\/p>\n

The Director General emphasized in his speech the necessity of adopting integrated national policies that support the development of Somali women’s skills and work to overcome the social and economic challenges that hinder their progress, ensuring their effective participation and established social justice in all fields.<\/p>\n

Through the Ministry, Somalia expressed her sincere commitment to enhancing the presence of women at various levels of governance and administration, by expanding the scope of achievements they have made and aligning them with the national priorities set by the Government to ensure a more prosperous future.<\/p>\n

This participation comes within the framework of Somalia’s keenness to enhance her international partnerships with the United Kingdom and the European Union, to support women’s empowerment initiatives and ensure their involvement as a fundamental partner in formulating national decisions related to peace and security.<\/p>\n

The convening of this conference also represents an opportunity to review the steps that Somalia has taken on her path toward recovery, as the integration of women into the development fabric is considered an indispensable pillar in her strategy aimed at achieving sovereignty and comprehensive renaissance.<\/p>\n

Participants emphasized during the sessions the importance of concerted efforts to ensure a safe and supportive environment for women, noting that investing in the energies of Somali women is a direct investment in the country’s stability and her ability to face regional and international variables.<\/p>\n
