LESOTHO — \u200b<\/strong>Somalia is actively participating in the 47th session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child held in Lesotho, as part of her relentless efforts to enhance her role in continental forums and affirm her keenness to improve the situation of childhood and protect it in accordance with approved international and regional standards.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe Somali delegation participating in this high-level session was led by Ms. Maryan Ali Abukar, Deputy Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, as this participation embodies Somalia\u2019s growing interest in youth issues, and her aspirations to build a safe and stable future for rising generations.<\/p>\n

During the sessions, the Deputy Minister delivered a keynote address in which she emphasized the strategic importance of Somalia\u2019s ratification of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, stressing that this step is considered a fundamental pillar for empowering and protecting children\u2019s rights across her lands.<\/p>\n

In her remarks, Ms. Maryan Ali Abukar pointed to the urgent necessity of adopting robust legal and institutional frameworks that contribute to safeguarding child welfare, explaining that working to align national policies with African standards represents a vital approach adopted by Somalia to achieve a comprehensive renaissance in the childhood sector.<\/p>\n
