MOGADISHU —<\/strong> As part of her persistent efforts to modernize the medical system and achieve comprehensive social welfare, Somalia witnessed today, Thursday, intensive diplomatic and health activities. These involved concluding strategic agreements and holding high-level international meetings to establish a modern health infrastructure serving all her citizens across various governorates while ensuring their human dignity.<\/p>\n

Strategic Agreement with the Italian Side<\/strong><\/p>\n

Somalia signed a historic cooperation agreement with the Italian government to launch the massive “QEPHS-SOM” project, aimed at modernizing and expanding primary healthcare services across the country in line with international standards of quality, efficiency, and inclusivity.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed on the Somali side by H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, Minister of Health and Human Services, and on the Italian side by H.E. Pier Mario Dacco\u00f2 Coppi, the Italian Ambassador, in an official ceremony reflecting deep historical and developmental ties.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of officials from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), focusing on narrowing the service gap between urban and rural areas to ensure access to superior medical care for the most needed regions.<\/p>\n

The project aims to provide reliable medical services that directly contribute to reducing maternal and infant mortality and improving general health indicators, representing a high-level humanitarian and developmental response to challenges faced by local communities.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Dr. Guled Abdijalil, Director General of the Ministry of Health, and technical officials who confirmed that this partnership will equip health centers in governorates with modern equipment and enhance independent, efficient resource management.<\/p>\n

Renewed Partnership with UNICEF<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a related context, the Minister received a high-level delegation from UNICEF to discuss ways to accelerate the implementation of the “National Community Health Strategy,” which represents the fundamental pillar of the desired health transformation Somalia is striving to achieve.<\/p>\n

Discussions covered improving the quality of basic services for children and mothers, developing national medical staff’s capabilities, and adopting advanced digital systems for health data management to ensure accurate strategic planning and rapid response to emergencies and epidemics.<\/p>\n

Somalia emphasized during the meeting that integrating efforts between the government and international organizations is the key to building a sustainable health system capable of protecting the social fabric, highlighting the importance of global support for vital health programs.<\/p>\n

For their part, the UNICEF delegation and Italian partners praised the serious steps taken by the Ministry, reaffirming their commitment to providing the necessary technical and financial support for health projects serving millions in various governorates and remote villages.<\/p>\n

The meetings concluded by emphasizing that these multilateral partnerships are the primary driver of the comprehensive health renaissance, considering the provision of quality healthcare as a guaranteed right for all society members and a cornerstone of a strong, stable state.<\/p>\n
