MOGADISHU —<\/strong> The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm “KSrelief,” continues its global leadership in supporting the water and environmental sanitation sector by implementing 152 vital projects valued at over $409 million, targeting 22 countries to ensure water sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u200bPriority Support for Yemen<\/span><\/p>\n

The Republic of Yemen topped the list of beneficiaries with 55 water projects costing $245 million. These initiatives included securing potable water supplies and drilling wells in several provinces, in addition to providing technical, logistical, and financial support to the Yemeni Ministry of Water and Environment.<\/p>\n

Developing Health Infrastructure<\/span><\/p>\n

Efforts in Yemen also focused on improving access to water and sanitation services in 45 health centers and enhancing monitoring and evaluation in 117 other centers, aiming to bolster health stability, curb epidemics, and provide a safe environment for local communities affected by crises.<\/p>\n

Crisis Response in Syria<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Syrian Arab Republic, initiatives included rehabilitating central water tanks in Rif Damascus and providing emergency water and sanitation services for children and displaced persons affected by earthquakes, alongside rehabilitating water stations and solid waste systems in Idlib to serve the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Strategic Initiatives in Sudan<\/span><\/p>\n

KSrelief also implemented strategic projects in Sudan, including drilling 15 deep wells in the Northern State and securing power generators for water treatment plants and specialized hospitals, besides drilling 33 medium-depth wells in various regions to support states affected by the flood season.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive Geographical Expansion<\/span><\/p>\n

The map of benevolence expanded to include countries such as Somalia, Palestine, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, reflecting the inclusiveness of Saudi aid directed toward the neediest areas to elevate water security as a pillar of health and social stability.<\/p>\n

\u200bSynchronicity with World Water Day<\/span><\/p>\n

These achievements coincide with the celebration of World Water Day (March 22), reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to international initiatives tackling water scarcity and its active contribution to building a dignified life and a better future for coming generations.<\/p>\n

Since its inception ten years ago, KSrelief has successfully implemented 4,219 relief projects in 113 countries across various vital sectors, with a total cost exceeding $8.3 billion, further solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a global humanitarian hub.<\/p>\n
