\u200bMOGADISHU — <\/strong>Within the strategic vision to enhance international partnership efficiency and achieve sustainable development goals, the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of Somalia convened the 2025 Annual Review of World Food Programme (WFP) programs to ensure alignment with national priorities.<\/p>\n

The meeting was presided over by H.E. Mohamed Shite, the Ministry\u2019s Director General, attended by WFP Deputy Head of Programme, Michele Kiermeier. Deliberations focused on assessing project execution and developing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).<\/p>\n

The Director General emphasized the necessity of aligning WFP interventions with the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025-2029), asserting that the government prioritizes “Results-Based Monitoring” (RBM) to ensure a tangible and sustainable impact on the lives of citizens across all regions.<\/p>\n

The session addressed the formidable challenges facing WFP operations in Somalia, primarily severe climate change and global supply chain fluctuations, issues documented by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).<\/p>\n

Participants affirmed that addressing funding gaps and rising humanitarian needs remains a central challenge. Discussions explored transitioning from emergency relief to long-term resilience-building projects to empower local communities against environmental and economic shocks.<\/p>\n

The discussions highlighted the importance of enhancing national ownership of developmental projects, with an agreement to develop institutional frameworks ensuring transparency and accountability, thereby improving resource allocation toward critical sectors.<\/p>\n

The Ministry reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to providing administrative and technical facilities to ensure a successful partnership with the WFP, focusing on building national capacities in strategic planning and large-scale project management.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded, as published by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), with the necessity of updating shared databases between the government and international organizations to ensure precise geographical and social targeting.<\/p>\n

The outcomes stressed that Somalia\u2019s economic stability is inextricably linked to the success of food security programs, positioning the annual review as a vital tool for correcting executive paths in line with the state\u2019s sovereign aspirations.<\/p>\n

\u200bThis strategic review represents the cornerstone of a new “Developmental Social Contract” between Somalia and the international community. Transitioning toward the National Transformation Plan requires a parallel shift in international organizations’ performance to be more responsive to national policies.
