Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), officially inaugurated a high-level National Consultation forum yesterday in Mogadishu to strengthen emergency response mechanisms for the nation\u2019s ongoing drought crises.<\/p>\n

\u200bAs reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the forum adopts a new strategic focus that places women-led organizations at the forefront of humanitarian interventions, ensuring efficient field access and optimal utilization of relief resources.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe event, held at the Peace Hotel, convened key stakeholders and international partners to analyze the indispensable role of women\u2019s rights groups in crisis management and their capacity to lead relief operations in affected regions.<\/p>\n

Discussions prioritized methods to elevate women from being aid beneficiaries to active decision-makers in planning and implementation, recognizing their pivotal role in strengthening community cohesion during environmental disasters.<\/p>\n

In a statement cited by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the Commissioner emphasized that robust female participation is a fundamental pillar for sustainable and equitable relief, stressing the integration of female leadership into the national response framework.<\/p>\n

The Chairman noted that because women and children are disproportionately affected by climate shocks, female leadership is essential to ensure that response strategies accurately address the specific needs of the most vulnerable demographics.<\/p>\n

The consultation is conducted in close partnership with UN Women and international aid agencies to align Somalia\u2019s national disaster strategies with global standards for gender-responsive humanitarian action.<\/p>\n

This international collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency of future interventions, ensuring that emergency responses are both inclusive and systematic, thereby reducing human and economic losses caused by severe climate fluctuations.<\/p>\n
