\u200bDHUSAMAREB —<\/strong> The Ministry of Relief of Galmudug State has announced that local communities and livestock in vast areas of the Mudug Region have been severely impacted by the ongoing severe drought sweeping through the country.<\/p>\n

According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the Ministry confirmed that prolonged rainfall failure has had catastrophic effects on both people and animals, exacerbating humanitarian needs across the affected districts of the Mudug Region.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe Ministry explained via SONNA that acute water shortages and the depletion of pastures have led to the deteriorating condition of livestock, placing immense strain on the livelihoods of pastoralist communities who rely entirely on their herds for survival.<\/p>\n

SONNA reported that the Galmudug authorities have issued an urgent appeal for immediate humanitarian assistance to support the affected populations, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to provide drinking water, food aid, and emergency relief services.<\/p>\n

Galmudug authorities called upon international partners, donors, and relevant institutions to scale up their humanitarian response to mitigate the impact of the drought and prevent further deterioration of living conditions in the region.<\/p>\n
