His Excellency clarified that the region is facing a severe shortage of food and water supplies, confirming that the current drought has directly impacted all parts of Puntland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u200bLugatoor indicated that the government plans to hold an emergency meeting next Monday at the Presidential Palace, with the participation of government ministers and directors of national and international humanitarian agencies, with the aim of establishing a unified and urgent response plan to save the lives of those affected. His Excellency called upon all humanitarian organizations to intensify their efforts and move quickly to meet the urgent relief needs of the population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Data and Consequences of the Crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An official report issued by the Vice President stated that the drought, resulting from the failure of the rainy season for four consecutive seasons, has exacerbated humanitarian conditions in the governorates of Mudug, Nugaal, Sool, Cayn, Sanaag, Haylan, Bari, Karkar, and Ras Kasayr.<br \/>\n\u200b<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data indicates that more than 940,000 people are facing severe shortages of food and water, and 310,000 children under the age of five are suffering from malnutrition. Additionally, about 50,000 people have been internally displaced to cities in search of aid. Lugatoor confirmed that approximately 130,000 people among the affected are experiencing an acute crisis demanding immediate and urgent intervention.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Coordination at the National Level<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a related context, His Excellency Abdisalam Abdi Ali, the Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received His Excellency El-Khidir Daloum, the Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Somalia, at his office in Mogadishu today, Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting focused on the importance of strengthening joint cooperation between Somalia and the Programme, particularly in the areas of humanitarian response, food provision, and sustainable development and resilience-building programs.
